Retire with class and excitement

Finding the perfect retirement home.

The beautiful, well-versed 83 year old lady, fully dressed every morning at 8 am sharp, with her hair done in fashion and perfectly applied makeup, is moving to a retirement home. Her husband recently died, which motivated her move. After many hours of patiently waiting in the hall of the home, she smiled sweetly, when told her room was ready. As she moved her walker toward the elevator, she was given a detailed description of her small room, including the curtains hanging from her window. ′′ I love it “, she said, with the enthusiasm of a 8-year-old girl who was just handed over a new pet. – Mrs. Jones; you haven’t seen the room, just wait. – That doesn’t matter, she replied. Happiness is something you decide over time. Whether or not I like my room doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged, it depends on how I arrange my mind. I’ve already decided that I like it. It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have the choice; I can spend the day in bed, going through the difficulty I have with my body parts that don’t work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the parts that do work. Every day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I will focus on the new day and the happy memories I’ve stored just for this time in my life. HAPPINESS is like a bank account: you withdraw from it, what you deposit. So my advice would be to deposit a lot of happiness into your memory account. Remember these five simple things: 1.- Free your heart from hate/discord. 2.- Free your mind from worries. 3.- Live Simply. 4.- Give more. 5.- Take less. 2023 Desert X Artists Named

A dozen artists from Europe, North America and South Asia will deploy their artworks at outside areas across the Coachella Valley. City News Service,News Partner Posted Mon, Jan 30, 2023 at 3:19 pm PT Reply The 2023 event will run March 4 until May 7, according to a statement from Desert X. (Desert X) COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — Organizers of Desert X, a biennial outdoor art exhibition in the Coachella Valley, announced Monday the artists who will participate in the fourth edition of the site-specific display opening in March. A dozen artists from Europe, North America and South Asia will deploy their artworks at outside areas across the Coachella Valley from March 4 until May 7, according to a statement from Desert X. “There’s a saying attributed to the Kwakwaka’wakw nation that a place is a story happening many times,” said Desert X’s Artistic Director Neille Wakefield in a statement. “This idea of place as the multiplicity of stories flowing through it is central to Desert X. Artists are an essential part of this understanding and the ideas they bring to it irrigate our perception of place, nourishing the narratives already there and propagating those that have yet to be told.” Participating artists who will present immersive works including sculpture, painting, writing architecture, design, film, music, performance, choreography, education and environmental activism are: — United Kingdom-based artist Rana Behum with “Chainlink,” a structure appearing as a shimmering pyramidal haze of color or a chain link fence floating above the desert floor and spread across the valley. — United States-based artist Lauren Bon with “The Smallest Sea with the Largest Heart,” a poetic object to remind viewers of society’s capacity to destroy, their connection to water, and that the desert was once a sea. — U.S.-based rancher, artist and educator Gerald Clarke with “Immersion,” a giant board game with a goal to reach the center by answering questions about the traditions and histories of the Cahuilla Indians and other sovereign cultures. — Mexico-based artist Paloma Contreras Lomas with “Amar a Dios en Tierra de Indios, Es Oficio Maternal,” a Western-meets-scifi, audio-visual tour of a landscape featuring a dated car screeched to a halt and an array of tangled limbs from two mysterious characters, in an effort to push back at the violent male gaze of the landscape. — U.S.-based artist Torkwase Dyson with “Liquid a Place,” which is part of an ongoing series that features a sculptural installation that engages people as liquid beings seeking new forms. — Mexico-based artist Mario Garcia Torres with “Searching for the Sky (While Maintaining Equilibrium),” a herd of mechanical bulls designed to make people fall and becoming a macho celebration of failure. — United Kingdom and India-based artists Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser with “Namak Nazar,” immersive audio-visual environments inviting people to think through ecological loss and the loss of home. — U.S.-based artist Matt Johnson with “Sleeping Figure,” a cubist rendition of classical odalisque featuring shipping containers and the harem to which they belong. — U.S.-based artist Tschabalala Self with “Pioneer,” an equestrian statue serving as a visual representation of the birthright and place of Native and African American women within the American landscape. — Bangladesh-based artist Marina Tobassum with “Khudi Bari,” a modular mobile home that is low cost, durable, and can be assembled and disassembled to address the role of design amidst the world’s climate conditions. — Mexico-based artist Hector Zamora with “Chimera,” a performative action transforming street vendors into walking sculptures made of balloons to question the everyday uses of materials and functions of space. “In a time of global crisis, many of the artists have created spaces of freedom and possibility, suggesting new ways to build healing cultures of care that embrace and protect (bio)diversity, opening up opportunities for joy and hope anchored in justice,” Desert X co-curator Diana Campbell said in a statement. “Immersing ourselves in the stories of place also awakens us to its mythologies, whether they be religious texts and oral traditions across multitudes of belief systems that see us creating vessels to escape the flood as well as being cast into the arid wilderness to test the limits of existential and spiritual survival.” Visit for vacation rental jomes in the Coachella Valley.. WILDLIGHTS - The Living Desert

Town Tradition: Local Plan For Living Desert Zoo’s

‘Glow In The Park’ Palm Desert’s tradition offers a way for zoo-member families to view the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens after the sun has set. Ashley Ludwig,Patch Staff Posted Mon, Jan 30, 2023 at 8:44 am PT Reply (PHOTO: Courtesy Tianyu Arts and Culture, Inc. ) PALM DESERT, CA — It’s not the glowing forests of Pandora on Avatar, but it may be the next best thing for Palm Desert residents. For the second year in a row, the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens’ ‘Glow in the Park’ wildlife sanctuary installation brings the nighttime desert to life in a feast for the eyes. Presented by Arcisure Arena, Glow in the Park is reserved for zoo members. It is a ticketed, after-hours event scheduled from 6:30 to 10 p.m. from March 17 to April 30. Tickets go on sale in late January, according to the zoo website. Town Tradition: Local Plan For Living Desert Zoo’s ‘Glow In The Park’; PHOTO: Courtesy Tianyu Arts and Culture, Inc. For starters, take everything you know about lanterns and throw it away. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens partnered with an installation expert who created larger-than-life light sculptures lit from within by colorful LED lights. The springtime display returns to feature themed paths that pay homage to pollinators and plants, showcase traditional Chinese lanterns and culture in unique ways, and tell visual stories of the desert in all of its extreme resilience. At night, the park appears to come alive with glowing displays of rams, flamingos, crocodiles, towering lions, butterfly trees and a Chinese dragon whose brightly-colored tail coils into a tunnel big enough to walk through. Some installations are interactive and others are merely breathtaking, according to a Discover Palm Desert spokesperson. There are interactive features, such as the glowing moon swing, unicorn carriage, and glowing photo frame to mug for photos next to a glowing gorilla. The darkness of the desert sky makes the light-up features even more spectacular. Living Desert Zoo and Gardens CEO and President Allen Monroe discussed the added bonus of a nighttime African Safari. To see the animals of the zoo at night, is unlike any other experience The Living Desert Zoo has hosted in previous years, according to Monroe. Expect new and exciting glowing creatures in 2023. PHOTO: Courtesy Tianyu Arts and Culture, Inc. “It’s been really exciting to see it come to life right before our eyes,” Monroe said in 2022. “Each section has its own unique theme and design and is a work of art in itself.” This year, the magic returns, according to Monroe. “This year’s event is sure to delight as an entirely new line up of lanterns will light up the night including lanterns of desert wildlife, animals of the sea, and even mythical creatures!” Guests can watch the desert come alive with lanterns, engaging art installations, interactive stations, and plenty of memorable photo opportunities at Glow in the Park. Glow in the Park will be held nightly, March 17 through April 30 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at LivingDesert.org. Advanced reservations are required as space is limited. Tickets are purchased for a select date and time. New this year, a combo ticket is available – guests can purchase any day general admission zoo ticket and a Glow in the Park ticket for a discounted rate. Glow in the Park is presented by Acrisure Arena home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds and sponsored by the City of Palm Desert. Produced in partnership with Tianyu Arts and Culture, Inc., Glow in the Park is an extraordinary night-time event featuring intricate, immersive, and truly amazing animal and nature-scape lantern creations. Photo: Tianyu Arts and Culture, Inc., Tianyu Arts and Culture, Inc. designed each lantern installation in partnership with the zoo to reflect the unique location of the Coachella Valley as well as the zoo itself. The Glow in the Park is immersive, with larger-than-life lanterns and glowing landscapes that create both the engaging art installations the area is famous for as well as a backdrop for photo opportunities, according to Glow In the Park fans. The much anticipated family-friendly event is ticketed, so zoo members can be prepared to spend a little extra if they go. Advanced reservations are required.
